The Asejere Movement took a significant step forward in its journey towards the upcoming Local Government elections in Lagos State with a second general meeting held on February 15, 2025 at the Ilogbo Elegba Town Hall. The event, expertly compered by Hon. Saka Yusuf from Ijanikin Ward, brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including Ward representatives, youths, women, community leaders, and top politicians from across the five Wards in the Local Council Area.
The meeting commenced with opening prayers from representatives of three religions, including the African traditional religion, which set the tone for a productive and inclusive discussion.
Hon. Ajose Tekoboh a prominent promoter of the Movement, delivered the welcome address, emphasising the importance of mobilising support across zones for the leading aspirant, Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun. Tekoboh's address was a call to action, urging supporters to work tirelessly towards ensuring Hon. Kareem's success in the upcoming elections.
In his keynote address, Hon. Kareem thanked supporters for their backing. He emphasised his commitment to bringing governance closer to the people, particularly youth and women, and outlined his plans for health missions, roads rehabilitation, and women's empowerment if given the privilege to assume position as Chairman of the Local Council Development Area in Oto-Awori.
Earlier, a former APC women's leader in the LCDA, and current Iyalode of Ijanikin Kingdom, Alhaja Amonota Sanni in her goodwill message, prayed for the success of the movement and assured supporters that Hon. Kareem will deliver on his promises. Her message was one of hope and optimism, urging supporters to market the Asejere brand by working towards a common goal.
The Director-General of the Asejere movement, Hon. Kabiru Mumuni highlighted the movement's progress since its inception. Hon. Mumuni emphasised the importance of attending APC Ward and LGA meetings, registering with the Party, and participating in the upcoming primary elections when it is time. His address was a reminder of the importance of grassroots politics and the need for supporters to be actively engaged in the political process.
The gathering also recognised the efforts of Chief Usman Giwa and the Movement's Ward C Coordinator, Chief Lamoriu, for organising a successful Health Walk the penultimate week which was a significant event, demonstrating the movement's drive towards the health and wellbeing of constituents.
Representatives of ethnic nationalities in the All Progressives Congress (APC) including Chief Chinwe Shallom (Southeast), Mr. Titus Owolo (South South leader), and Alhaja Awa Ahmed (Arewa), delivered goodwill messages in support of Hon. Kareem Azeez and the Asejere movement. Their messages reflected the movement's growing influence and its ability to bring together leaders from diverse backgrounds.
The meeting concluded on a high note, with attendees expressing optimism about the movement's prospects in the upcoming local government elections elections.
As the Asejere Movement continues it's membership and support drive ahead of party primaries, its leaders and supporters remain resolute in working together towards a common goal with emphasis on grassroots politics, community engagement, and inclusive governance. As it stands, the Asejere movement is indeed poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming elections.
