The Federal Government of Nigeria is proposing an offer that will put an end to the Academic Staff Union of Universities' ongoing strike in the country.

This move was disclosed by the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Erinjogunola Dayo Israel on Monday after series of talks and meetings with key stakeholders in the education and labour sectors, including the Minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige, and the Presidents of ASUU and National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) respectively.

In a release by Israel, he said a proposal is being put together by the federal government and would be forwarded to President Muhammadu Buhari for consideration and approval during the week.

He further assured Nigerian Students and the youths that consultations are still ongoing by him and his committee of youth leaders to find a common ground for stakeholders to yield to popular demands so that students of tertiary institutions in the country can resume normal academic activities in their respective schools.

"I just met Nigeria's Minister of Labour Chris Nigige with my Youth Leaders at his home in Abuja to discuss the way forward in putting an end to the ASUU strike"

"I spoke to the Presidents of ASUU and NANS... the Chairman of the Wage, income and Salaries Commission"

"I can inform Nigerians that a counter offer to ASUU has been put together by the FG and will be presented to Mr. President this week", he said.

It would be recalled that Comrade Dayo Israel had set-up a committee alongside other youth leaders of his party to interface with stakeholders after ASUU commenced it's strike on February 14, 2022 following a Purpoted failed attempt by government to meet it's demand.
